Step 0 collects the facts that every later step depends on. Before governance is drafted in Step 1, the customer's architecture and operations teams complete the Cloud Discovery Questionnaire so the delivery team knows the estate, the constraints, the owners and the integration and data scope it is designing for.

0.1 About the Cloud Discovery Questionnaire (v4.2)

The workbook is a single Excel file with one sheet per discovery domain and 400 assessment questions in total. Each question row carries a domain, an area, a stable question ID, the question itself, a Customer Response column for the customer to complete, an Example Response as guidance only, and a Comments / Remarks column.

0.3 How to use the workbook

  • Send one copy to the customer and ask the Architecture and Operations team to fill it in. Record the customer name, project description, date and every respondent on the Overview sheet so each answer has an owner.
  • Complete only the Customer Response column. Example Response is guidance, not an answer. Use Comments / Remarks for caveats, dependencies and open items.
  • Where an answer is not yet known, write TBD and name the owner. Where a question does not apply, write N/A with a one-line reason. Do not leave a question blank.
  • Work with the customer section by section. Strategy, Security, IAM and Infra & Network feed Steps 1 and 2 directly; OIC, FDI and Data & Database feed the analytics, integration and workload stages.
  • Return the completed file to the delivery team before the governance pack is drafted in Step 1. Treat open TBD items on Strategy, IAM, Security and Infra & Network as blockers.
  • Upload the completed answers to the project's Stage 02.1 Discovery tab to track completeness, resolve conflicts and gate the Stage 03 sign-off.
  • Note. The downloadable workbook is a blank template: all customer responses, names and contacts have been removed, and the Example Response column is retained as guidance. The Data & Database sheet (56 questions) is new in v4.2; the Stage 02.1 Discovery tab in each project still carries the earlier 344-question set until it is extended.
