EbizonCloud’s OCI Security Checklist approach turns discovery findings and compliance requirements into actionable, auditable controls. The OCI Security marketing presentation describes five core pillars supported by automation, cloud-native tooling and a unified multicloud security framework.

1. Identity & access management

Define IAM policies, streamline access procedures, review entitlements, grant appropriate privileges and segregate responsibilities. Identify generic accounts, disable idle accounts and document access decisions.

  • Use pre-built Oracle-aligned IAM templates and automate provisioning with Terraform and the OCI SDK.
  • Conduct quarterly access audits with anomaly dashboards; use dynamic roles and fine-grained tag-based access.
  • Enforce role-based access through CI/CD, detect shared users and schedule idle-account deactivation.
  • Centralize access evidence through OCI Audit Logs and the security information and event management (SIEM) platform.
  • 2. Network security

Cover firewalls, intrusion detection, antivirus, security policies, secure communications, data-loss prevention and encryption. Align each network control with the workload and its exposure.

  • Apply Security Zones by workload type and forward VCN flow logs and network security telemetry to Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Maintain next-generation firewalls and intrusion detection; align WAF policies with the OWASP Top 10 for each application tier.
  • Use TLS inspection where required, layer-3/layer-4 DDoS protection and Cloud Guard-driven response workflows.
  • Deploy antivirus scanning and quarantine workflows, and use key management with defined rotation policies.
  • 3. Governance & compliance

Define goals → monitor performance → ensure compliance → identify risks → establish policies → implement controls. Repeat this cycle as business requirements, workloads and regulations change.

  • Map automated compliance checks to applicable CIS, GDPR, HIPAA and ISO 27001 requirements; retain evidence rather than treating a tool result as certification.
  • Monitor policy violations and alerts, and use Security Advisor and Audit Logs to support periodic risk assessment.
  • Define tagging, quota, access and Security Zone policies; enforce configuration guardrails through infrastructure as code.
  • Align governance with each workload’s business and regulatory needs.
  • 4. Data protection

Establish protection requirements, assess risks, set policies and implement controls across backup, encryption and vendor access.

  • Classify sensitive database data with Oracle Data Safe and use PII discovery to inform risk assessment.
  • Schedule encrypted backups with lifecycle and recovery policies; define encryption and key-rotation requirements for storage.
  • Scope and audit third-party access; restrict access through IAM, tags and compartment isolation.
  • Enforce retention, archival and data-masking policies.
  • 5. Monitoring & threat detection

    PhaseImplementation approach
Data ingestionCollect security and audit logs from OCI services into a centralized pipeline.
Event correlationAnalyze event patterns in a SIEM such as Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel.
Anomaly detectionMonitor unusual behavior and deviations from expected activity.
Threat intelligenceEnrich events with external threat feeds and contextual information.
Security postureContinuously assess Cloud Guard findings and vulnerability scans.
Alerting & responseNotify the responsible teams and trigger approved remediation workflows.

    6. Multicloud architecture security framework

The presentation extends OCI controls across AWS and Azure through federated identity, centralized encryption, unified monitoring, secure connectivity, automated guardrails and identity-based Zero Trust access.

  • Coordinate OCI Vault, AWS KMS and Azure Key Vault; unify monitoring with Cloud Guard, SIEM and selected cloud security tools.
  • Design secure connectivity with FastConnect, AWS Direct Connect and Azure ExpressRoute, and automate guardrails using Terraform and policy tools such as OPA or Sentinel.

Product names, service availability and control mappings must be validated for the customer’s tenancy and current Oracle documentation before implementation; these materials do not establish that a customer is compliant.
